Sweetwater, ID

Sweetwater is a small, quiet community along Sweetwater Creek, located just two miles south of Lapwai in northern Nez Perce County. Local folklore says the creek got its name after a pack mule spilled two sacks of sugar into the water, though it is officially a translation of the area's Nez Perce name. After fires destroyed the old general store and post office in the mid-1900s, the area transitioned entirely into homes. Today, it offers a peaceful rural setting along U.S. 95 with open scenery and an easy drive into nearby Lewiston.
