Tall Timbers, MD

Tall Timbers is a St. Mary's County census-designated place along Maryland Route 249 near the Potomac shore. The highway bends through the community, with the old alignment preserved in Old Tall Timbers Road and Tall Timbers Road. There is no separate municipal government here; Tall Timbers is read through county roads, shore-facing geography, and the surrounding Southern Maryland landscape. Its small footprint still leaves a clear mark on the map: one census place, a state route, two road names, and a name that keeps pointing back to the timbered country around it.
