About Taos

Taos is a historic town and the county seat of Taos County, New Mexico, situated between the Rio Grande Gorge and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Incorporated in 1934 and named after the adjacent thousand-year-old Taos Pueblo, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the town of approximately 6,500 is a world-renowned art colony and tourist destination. The community features over twenty national historic registry sites and is served by Taos Municipal Schools.
