Taos Pueblo, NM

Just a few miles north of downtown Taos sits Taos Pueblo, one of the oldest continuously inhabited communities in North America. Its iconic multi-story adobe structures, known as the North and South Houses, have stood against the backdrop of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains for over a thousand years. Because the Pueblo is a private, sovereign community, certain residential areas remain off-limits to visitors, and the village temporarily shuts its gates during ceremonial observances.
