About Taylorsville
Taylorsville is a Bartholomew County CDP in German Township, part of the Columbus metropolitan area, with a name that arrived after an earlier one. The place was first called Herod and was platted under that name in 1849; the Taylorsville post office has operated since 1852. That gives the community a neat local sequence: Herod on the first plat, Taylorsville on the mail, and a township identity that continues around it. Taylorsville is an Indiana crossroads community whose story is less about a grand civic center than the names that stuck to the map.
