Taylorsville, KY

Taylorsville began with sixty acres donated by Richard Taylor in 1799 at the forks of Brashear's Creek and the Salt River. Taylor ran a grist mill nearby, which gives the town's start a practical feel: water, milling, and a piece of land laid out for a community. Taylorsville became Spencer County's seat in 1824 and incorporated five years later. The courthouse role still defines the town, while the creeks and river set its original location. It is a compact Kentucky county seat whose name honors the landowner who gave the town its first ground and whose early map was drawn by water.
