Tazlina sits just five miles south of Glennallen along the Richardson Highway in south-central Alaska. It is a quiet, spread-out riverside community of around 250 people, tucked near the spot where the Tazlina River flows into the Copper River. The name comes from the Ahtna Athabascan word for "swift water," reflecting deep Indigenous roots that began centuries ago as seasonal fishing camps along these glacial waterways.

Daily life here offers a peaceful, wooded setting with convenient access to everyday essentials. While residents often head into nearby Glennallen for larger errands, Tazlina has its own roadside services, including a grocery store, gas station, and hardware shop. Small residential neighborhoods branch off the highway into the spruce forests, giving locals plenty of space, direct access to world-class salmon fishing, and great views of the surrounding mountain ranges.
