Tenafly, NJ

Set along the wooded slopes west of the Palisades, Tenafly offers a quiet, leafy setting just across the river from New York City. The borough grew from early farming roots into a classic commuter town in the late nineteenth century, and that heritage is easy to see throughout the community. Notable landmarks include the Highwood Avenue home where women's suffrage leader Elizabeth Cady Stanton lived and wrote alongside Susan B. Anthony. Commuting into Manhattan is straightforward. The restored 1874 stone train depot still anchors the center of town as a local landmark, while direct express buses run regularly to the Port Authority Bus Terminal via NJ Transit and Rockland Coaches. Drivers also have a quick route down to the George Washington Bridge. Right around Huyler Park and the old depot, a compact downtown provides a walkable hub of independent coffee shops, neighborhood restaurants, bakeries, and everyday local services.

Single-family houses dominate the local market, ranging from Victorian and classic Dutch colonial homes near the town center to custom-built properties on generous lots.
