About The Crossings

The Crossings is not a municipality organized around a civic downtown. It is a 3.46-square-mile census-defined area in unincorporated southwest Miami-Dade County, with homes and services spread across residential subdivisions. It extends roughly from Kendall Drive south to Southwest 120th Street, with Florida's Turnpike on the east and Southwest 137th Avenue on the west. One documented piece of that buildout is Crossings Village South, recorded in county architectural history as a 1979 development; the similarly named Crossings Homeowners Association filed as a Florida nonprofit in 1977. The association is one local institution rather than the government of the wider census area, which Miami-Dade serves directly. The 2020 census recorded 23,276 residents; during 2020-2024, 71.6 percent of residents age five or older spoke a language other than English at home.

Everyday public facilities are correspondingly dispersed. Calusa Club Estates Park has a playground, basketball court, and dog-friendly space. Devon Aire Park combines a nature-based playground with county programs; its 2026 schedule included Fit2Play summer camp. As of July 2026, Metrobus routes 88, 104/104A, 137, and 204 linked the area's major road corridors with Dadeland North and other Kendall destinations. At Arvida Park, Miami-Dade planted 74 trees in November 2025 as part of a countywide canopy project. Crossings Shopping Village at Southwest 112th Street provides one retail node. In the 2024 general election, The Crossings Country Club and Devon Aire Park both served as polling locations, distributing a basic civic function across the area rather than concentrating it at a municipal hall.
