Thornwood is a hamlet and census-designated place in the town of Mount Pleasant, Westchester County, New York. Developing from a nineteenth-century tract established by developer Lewis Smadback, the community of approximately 4,100 houses the North American headquarters of the Carl Zeiss Corporation. Zoned within the Mount Pleasant Central School District, the neighborhood features local primary schools and Westlake High School.
