Timber Cove, CA

Timber Cove is a small Sonoma Coast census-designated place along Highway 1, a scattering of homes and coastal services between Stillwater Cove Regional Park and Fort Ross State Historic Park. Founded in the 1860s, it saw most of its development after the 1950s. The setting is physical: bluffs and cliffs, steep creek channels, forested coastal terraces, pocket beaches, and sea stacks. Highway 1 is the only north-south access through the community, and its narrow curves make the coast road part of everyday logistics.

Local life is tied to the water and the public lands around it. The private Timber Cove Boat Landing and Campground provides boat launching, camping, and access used by divers. Fort Ross State Historic Park to the south preserves the histories of the Kashia Band of Pomo Indians, Russian colonization, and later ranching; Stillwater Cove lies to the north. With no dense commercial center, Timber Cove works as a small coastal settlement whose shared reference points are Highway 1, the cove, and the surrounding parks.
