Tishomingo, OK

Tishomingo blends deep historic roots with an easygoing small-town rhythm. Home to around 3,000 residents, the town serves as the historic capital of the Chickasaw Nation and the seat of Johnston County. Downtown centers around the handsome granite Chickasaw Capitol building, surrounded by local shops, historic brick storefronts, and quiet residential streets shaded by mature trees. Pennington Creek winds right through town, giving locals a favorite spot to swim, fish, or walk along the water.

Murray State College sits right in town, bringing campus energy, athletic events, and degree programs to the community. Outdoor recreation is everywhere you look, from hiking and birdwatching at the Tishomingo National Wildlife Refuge to boating on nearby Lake Texoma and fly fishing on the Blue River. Highway 377 runs straight through, making it simple to commute north toward Ada or south toward the Texas border, all while coming home to a peaceful, close-knit Oklahoma community.
