Tonawanda is a city in Erie County, New York, situated at the northern edge of the county along the Erie Canal. Located north of Buffalo and across the canal from North Tonawanda, the community of approximately 15,000 is part of the Buffalo-Niagara Falls metropolitan area. The city features the scenic Gateway Harbor and Isle View Park along the Niagara River, and is served by the Tonawanda City School District.
