Toppers, OK

Toppers is a Wagoner County community spread along the edge of Fort Gibson Lake, where Oklahoma’s wooded hills, shallow coves, and open water set the daily backdrop. The lake was formed when the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers impounded the Grand River, changing a county once centered on farmland, rivers, and transport routes into a place with a strong recreation economy as well. Toppers keeps the lake close at hand without the formal grid of an incorporated town. Its 2020 census count was 911 residents, but the place feels defined as much by shoreline and water access as by the number on the map.

Life here sits inside a wider lake circuit. Nearby Sequoyah Bay State Park brings campsites, fishing, boating, and other water activities, while Wagoner County’s roads connect the lakeside communities to Wagoner and the Tulsa region.
