About Tracy
Tracy is a Lyon County city first platted in 1875 as Shetek Bend or Shetek Station, after settlers around Lake Shetek wanted a nearby railroad stop. The town incorporated as a village in 1881, and its railroad past still gets a yearly nod at Box Car Days over Labor Day weekend. U.S. 14 runs through town, while the 1968 F-5 tornado remains part of Tracy's modern story. Tracy is a southwest Minnesota place with a railroad name, a festival, and a memory of rebuilding.
