Tresckow, PA

Tresckow is a Carbon County census-designated place in western Pennsylvania, with 880 residents in the 2010 census. The community sits on a hill between Spring Mountain and Pismire Ridge, about three miles south of Hazleton and two miles west of Beaver Meadows. Tresckow has its own post office, but the road network and school district cross the Carbon–Luzerne line: students attend Hazleton Area schools, with Hazleton Area High School about seven miles away. The steep terrain and nearby towns shape daily travel. That pattern remains visible in the streets.

Formerly known as Dutchtown, Tresckow grew with the anthracite coal and transportation industries that defined this corner of northeastern Pennsylvania. The community’s elevation—about 1,778 feet—puts its houses and roads on a ridge between old mining landscapes and the Hazleton corridor. Spring Mountain marks the southern edge, while Pismire Ridge rises to the north. Tresckow remains an unincorporated place, so its identity is carried by the post office, school routes, hillside roads, and the coal-country geography around it.
