Trinidad, TX

Trinidad is a Henderson County city between the Trinity River and Cedar Creek, with State Highway 31 running through the center. The name traces to Santísima Trinidad de Salcedo, and the town's modern shape came from two forms of transportation: the Cotton Belt Railroad and the waterways around it. The Trinity forms the western edge, while Cedar Creek and the south end of Cedar Creek Reservoir define much of the eastern and southern setting. The reservoir lies about three miles northeast and was completed in 1965 for water supply, flood control, and recreation.

Trinidad Independent School District keeps the school connection local, while the city handles water, streets, police, elections, and everyday municipal work. Highway 31 points east toward Athens, the Henderson County seat, and west toward Corsicana, while the reservoir pulls boating and fishing traffic toward the north. Flooding once complicated the railroad route between Cedar Creek and the Trinity; today the same geography still determines which roads and neighborhoods connect.
