Trophy Club, TX

Trophy Club took both its name and its original plan from professional golf. In the 1970s, developers assembled land for homes around a course that Ben Hogan would help design, along with a clubhouse intended to display his trophies. Hogan later withdrew when that clubhouse could not be financed, but the proposed collection supplied the community's name and the golf-centered layout remained. Residents incorporated Trophy Club in 1985 after opposing a revised development plan; the incorporation measure passed with 80 percent of the vote. The town occupies roughly four square miles in the northwestern Dallas-Fort Worth region and meets Grapevine Lake on its northeastern side. It had 13,688 residents in the 2020 census and an estimated 13,695 in July 2025. Current recreation extends far beyond the country club. The town leases 877-acre Trophy Club Park from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, preserving part of the Eastern Cross Timbers along Grapevine Lake.

Town management gives the public access to hiking and mountain-biking trails, disc golf, fishing, kayaking, a boat ramp, birding, and a designated off-road vehicle area. Smaller facilities support more routine use. Six dedicated pickleball courts opened at Harmony Park in November 2025, and Independence Park contains ballfields, tennis courts, and a playground. The resident community pool reopened for Memorial Day weekend in 2026 after a renovation that added an interactive children's structure, an in-pool lounge shelf, expanded decks, shade pavilions, landscaping, and infrastructure repairs. Golf remains embedded in the town's history and physical plan, but lake access, woodland trails, municipal courts, fields, and the updated pool now make public recreation considerably broader than the founding concept.
