Turah, MT

Turah is a Missoula County CDP in the Clark Fork River valley, with Interstate 90 passing through at Exit 113. The name has a much older road-and-rail story behind it: Turah served as a stage station on the Mullan Road and later as a station on the Northern Pacific. That makes the modern highway the latest version of an old corridor. The community stretches between the river valley and the eastern Missoula County landscape, with Clinton Elementary serving most of the area and Bonner Elementary serving the northern portion. Turah is one of those places best understood by its routes: river, stage road, railroad, then interstate.
