Turley, OK

Turley is a Tulsa County census-designated place on the north edge of the Tulsa metro, around North Peoria Avenue and 66th Street North. The 2020 census counted 2,607 residents. It is unincorporated, so the local map depends on Tulsa County roads and sheriff services, Tulsa Public Schools, Turley Water Improvement District No. 3, and Turley Fire and Rescue. The community sits near the Tulsa city line and the Osage County edge, with Tulsa providing much of the larger job, shopping, and medical network.

Turley was historically called Flat Rock; the settlement took shape around 1897, and its first school opened in 1902. The first store and post office operated from the businesses of Jim Turley and S.L. Daun, alongside a blacksmith shop. Water, fire protection, churches, and small businesses now carry the practical work of a place that never incorporated. The water district and fire department remain part of the area's local story, while the road grid connects homes to north Tulsa. Turley is a community defined by its own service districts and history inside the much larger Tulsa area.
