About Twin Creeks
Twin Creeks lies on the north side of the Blackfoot River in eastern Missoula County, between East Twin Creek and West Twin Creek. The community is a small piece of a larger valley landscape of ranch land, river bottoms, forested slopes, and old roads east of Missoula. Highway 200 follows the Blackfoot corridor, tying Twin Creeks to Bonner, Milltown, Missoula, and the communities farther upriver. The names of the two creeks are the simplest map of how the place got its name.
Residents live with a river that shapes both recreation and practical decisions. Fishing, floating, wildlife watching, ranch work, wildfire preparation, and floodplain questions all belong to the local calendar, while Missoula provides schools, jobs, shopping, health care, and cultural events. Public-land conservation and land-protection work in the Twin Creek area have kept the valley in wider regional conversations, but the daily view remains homes, fields, cottonwoods, water, and mountains. Twin Creeks is a rural crossroads close enough to Missoula for its services and far enough out that the Blackfoot still sets the pace.
