About Tyonek
Tyonek is a census-designated place in the Kenai Peninsula Borough, Alaska, situated on the northwest shore of Cook Inlet. Historically, a Dena'ina Alaska Native village at this site was documented by explorer James Cook in 1778. The community is federally recognized and established the Tyonek Native Corporation in 1973. Home to about one hundred and fifty residents, the CDP extends from Trading Bay to the mouth of the Chuitna River.
