About Unionville

Unionville is an Orange County village in the Town of Minisink, on the southwestern edge of New York beside the New Jersey line. The settlement dates to the early eighteenth century, took the name Unionville around 1820, and incorporated in 1871. Its twentieth-century story ran through the Middletown and Unionville Railroad, which carried dairy products and students before passenger service ended in 1968. NY 284 and the Appalachian Trail now do the orienting: the highway passes through the village, and the trail follows the state line just south. It’s a small border village with a railroad past and a very clear map.
