About Valencia CDP (Valencia County)
Valencia is a CDP in the Rio Grande valley, part of the Albuquerque metropolitan orbit and surrounded by the broad agricultural and settlement landscape of Valencia County. The place is small in area but sits in a region shaped by the river, the bosque, irrigated fields, and the Manzano Mountains to the east. Los Lunas and Belen handle much of the county's shopping, services, and civic traffic, while Valencia keeps its own community name among the valley settlements.
Valencia's deeper story belongs to the Rio Abajo, the stretch of the Rio Grande below Santa Fe where Pueblo and Spanish traditions have developed alongside irrigation and farming. The county's old roads and community pattern still carry that layered history; the pre-1937 Route 66 alignment passes through nearby Los Lunas, Peralta, and Isleta. Today the CDP is tied into Los Lunas Schools and the greater Albuquerque work-and-school region, with the greenbelt, family farms, and growing subdivisions all part of the local conversation.
