About Valmeyer

Valmeyer has one of the most interesting histories around because the entire community literally moved up a hill. After the catastrophic 1993 Mississippi River flood washed out the original village down in the bottomlands, residents voted to pack up and rebuild 400 feet higher on the bluffs. Today, living in Valmeyer means enjoying a quiet, tight-knit neighborhood with great blufftop views and zero flood risk, all just a short drive from the old townsite down below.
