Van Voorhis, PA

Van Voorhis is a small census-designated place and coal town in Fallowfield Township, Washington County, south of Pittsburgh. The township's older landscape began with farming, including rye, and later took on roads, schools, coal mines, sawmills, grist mills, and other small industries. Van Voorhis belongs to that nineteenth-century pattern of settlements that grew around the work of the surrounding hills without becoming a separate borough.
