About Vashon

Vashon is an island community in King County, covering Vashon Island and Maury Island in southern Puget Sound between Seattle and Tacoma. Ferries and the King County Water Taxi connect it to West Seattle, the Kitsap Peninsula, Tacoma, and downtown Seattle, but the island has resisted a fixed bridge to preserve its rural character. Vashon is known for its Strawberry Festival, sheepdog trials, agriculture, and a large arts community. It feels close to the city by water, but deliberately separate in pace.
