Wabasha, MN

Set along the Mississippi River at the southern end of Lake Pepin, Wabasha offers a classic small-town feel surrounded by towering bluffs and open water. With around 2,600 residents, it is one of Minnesota's oldest river towns, featuring a walkable historic downtown, local marinas, and the popular National Eagle Center. Life here revolves around the outdoors, whether you are boating on the river, exploring bluff trails, or watching bald eagles along the shoreline. Highway 61 and Highway 60 run right through town, making it easy to cross into Wisconsin or cruise along the scenic Great River Road.

Families are served locally by the Wabasha-Kellogg School District as well as St. Felix Catholic School. While the town covers daily essentials with local shops, dining, and community clinics, many residents make the 45-minute drive to Rochester for regional employment and specialized healthcare at Mayo Clinic. Winona and Red Wing are also nearby for expanded shopping and weekend outings. The result is a quiet, tight-knit community that blends riverfront relaxation with easy access to southeast Minnesota's larger cities.
