Waggaman is an unincorporated community and census-designated place on the West Bank of the Mississippi River in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. Named for Senator George Augustus Waggaman who established the Avondale plantation here, the community of approximately 11,330 lies near the historic Avondale Shipyards. Public education is served by the Jefferson Parish Public School System.
