Wainwright, OK

Wainwright is a town in Muskogee County, Oklahoma, United States. The 2020 census counted 93 residents. Wainwright was named for a local merchant, William Henry Wainwright. Wainwright is in western Muskogee County, 17 miles southwest of Muskogee, the county seat, and 12 miles north of Checotah. Wainwright makes sense once you see how its past, landscape, and current gathering spots overlap. The town is drained by Anderson Creek, a southeast-flowing tributary of Dirty Creek, which runs east to the Arkansas River southeast of Webbers Falls.
