Walcott, IA

Walcott is a small, quiet community of around 1,500 people sitting roughly fifteen minutes west of Davenport. It is an appealing option for anyone wanting a slower rural lifestyle with a quick, straightforward commute into the Quad Cities for work, dining, and healthcare. The town grew up around the railroad in the 1850s and was settled largely by German farming families, a heritage that still shows in its orderly street grid and strong local traditions.

Along Interstate 80, Walcott is famous for the Iowa 80 Truckstop, the world's largest travel plaza, which brings a steady hum of visitors, several restaurant options, and the massive Truckers Jamboree festival every July. Turn off the highway and into town, though, and the energy shifts immediately into classic small-town Iowa.
