Walkerville, MT

Perched on the hill just above Butte, Walkerville is a quiet enclave of around 600 residents with sweeping views across the valley. Because its steep streets climb high up toward the Continental Divide, the community feels tucked away and peaceful, even though downtown Butte is only a five-minute drive down the hill. Residents rely on Butte for shopping, dining, and schools, but they get to come home to a slower, close-knit neighborhood overlooking the town.

The town got its start in the late 1800s around early silver and copper operations like the Alice Mine, named after the Salt Lake City brothers who funded it. Today, that heritage is visible along every road, where century-old miners' cottages and historic relics dot the hillside.
