About Walls
Walls is a DeSoto County town near the Mississippi River, in the dark-soil country locals call the Delta. It started out as Alpika, a Chickasaw name, and took the name Walls in 1906 for Captain June Walls, an early settler and merchant who served in the Civil War. Cotton, soybeans, rice, and corn point to the agricultural ground around it, while the Hernando de Soto trail runs through the wider county. Walls is a young Mississippi town with an older river-and-soil story underneath the name.
