About Walnut Creek

Walnut Creek is a Holmes County CDP in the middle of Ohio’s Amish Country, laid out as New Carlisle before its post office prompted the Walnut Creek name in 1841. The town sits on a ridge between Goose Creek and Walnut Creek, with the Tuscarawas River watershed shaping the surrounding hills. Today the local map mixes the Holmes County library branch and Walnut Creek Elementary with museums, covered bridges, farm visits, shops, meat and cheese counters, and Amish-style dining. That tourism layer is real, but the place still reads as a small township center first. Walnut Creek is northeastern Ohio where a creek name, a ridge road, and Amish Country commerce all meet.
