Walterboro is a city and the county seat of Colleton County, South Carolina, located in the Lowcountry near the ACE Basin. Founded in 1783 as a summer retreat for local planters and home to the historic World War II-era Walterboro Army Airfield, the community of approximately 5,480 is served by the Colleton County School District.
