Walworth, NY

Walworth is a Wayne County town on the western edge of the county, east of Rochester and bordered by Ontario, Marion, Macedon, and Penfield. Four Millet brothers and their families arrived from Connecticut in 1799, built log cabins, and became the first settlers in what is now the Walworth hamlet. The town was established in 1830 and named for New York Chancellor Reuben Hyde Walworth. Today the town includes three hamlets—Walworth, West Walworth, and Lincoln—so the place name covers more than one village center.

NY 350 and NY 441 provide the main road structure, with Route 441 passing through the Walworth hamlet and connecting the town to the Monroe County side. Schools are shared across the map: Wayne Central, Gananda Central, and Penfield Central districts each serve portions of the town. The result is a rural-suburban mix, with farm roads and hamlet streets opening toward Rochester's outer ring. Walworth has the kind of geography where the town line matters less in daily life than the three hamlets, school districts, and routes that stitch western Wayne County together.
