Wardner, ID

Tucked into the hills of Idaho's Silver Valley, Wardner is a quiet mountain community of fewer than two hundred residents. The town got its start in the 1880s as a bustling camp when the Bunker Hill silver and lead deposits were first uncovered. While those early decades brought rail growth and intense labor disputes that shaped the region, the frenzy of the mining boom has long since given way to a relaxed, slow-paced atmosphere.

Today, Wardner functions mostly as a peaceful hillside neighborhood sitting just above Kellogg. Residents get quiet streets and mountain views, while heading down the hill to Kellogg or over to Wallace for everyday essentials, dining, and local schools. Outdoor recreation is right out the door, with Silver Mountain Resort's ski slopes and gondola minutes away alongside paved bike trails and backcountry access across the valley.
