Warrensburg, IL

Warrensburg is a Macon County village on Illinois Route 121, about nine miles southeast of Decatur and fourteen miles northwest of Mount Pulaski. That placement gives the village a clear two-way relationship with nearby towns: Decatur is the county seat and regional center, while Route 121 carries through traffic along Warrensburg's northeast side. The village belongs to the Decatur metropolitan area, although its local map remains compact and easy to read.

The settlement was established in 1841, and its later growth followed transportation. The Pekin, Lincoln and Decatur Railroad was built through the township; Warrensburg incorporated on July 8, 1880, and received a charter in 1901. Today East Main Street and Route 121 form the practical center of the village, with civic government and local services arranged around that corridor. Warrensburg-Latham Community Unit School District 11 also serves the village. The road links Warrensburg to Decatur in one direction and Mount Pulaski in the other, giving a small place a useful position within Macon County.
