Warsaw, KY

Warsaw is Gallatin County's seat on the south bank of the Ohio River, with U.S. 42 running through the center between Cincinnati and Carrollton. The 2020 census counted 1,761 residents. The town began as Great Landing in 1798, when the river landing set the practical location; the name changed to Warsaw in 1831 after a post office conflict with another Kentucky town. That river-and-road pattern still makes the courthouse square and downtown the clearest way to read Warsaw. The Warsaw Historic District covers about 65 acres and includes 118 contributing buildings, with the Gallatin County Courthouse among them.

Gallatin County Schools and the Gallatin County Public Library serve the city, while the riverfront, U.S. 42, and county roads tie the center to the wider Ohio Valley. Covington lies 35 miles northeast and Carrollton 17 miles southwest along the river.
