Washington, OK

Washington is a McClain County town with a name that carries two stories. One account ties it to the first president, while a popular local tradition connects it to Caddo chief Little Boy George Washington, who lived nearby. A post office arrived in 1904, and the Oklahoma Central Railway helped a townsite take shape after statehood. Today State Highway 24 runs through the community, with Walnut Creek along its northern edge. Washington is south-central Oklahoma in a story-and-railroad shape.
