Wayne, IL

Wayne is a quiet village in the Fox River Valley, roughly 40 miles west of downtown Chicago. With a population of around 2,300, the community is known for its spacious lots, mature trees, and deep equestrian heritage. Much of that character stems from Oaklawn Farm, where the Dunham family bred world-renowned Percheron horses in the late 1800s. You can still see that legacy throughout town today, from the landmark Dunham Castle and private riding club to the network of horse trails winding past residential properties.

Daily life in Wayne centers on privacy and green space, with custom homes situated on large, wooded parcels alongside protected wetlands and oak savannas. The village is almost entirely residential, so locals head into neighboring St. Charles, Geneva, or Elgin for restaurants, grocery runs, and Metra train connections. Route 59 and Army Trail Road provide easy travel across the Fox Valley, while school-age children are zoned for either St. Charles District 303 or Elgin District U-46 depending on where they live.
