Wayne, OH

Wayne is a Wood County village in northwest Ohio that began as Freeport and was later known as Prairie Depot. The town was platted in 1836, and its present name honors General Anthony Wayne. That sequence of names records the village’s early relationship to roads, settlement, and the broader Northwest Ohio landscape. Wayne sits among farm fields and small communities between Bowling Green and the Toledo area, with the flat agricultural country giving the village much of its setting.
