Waynesville, GA

Waynesville is an unincorporated Brantley County community and census-designated place on the edge of Georgia’s coastal plain, where U.S. 82 crosses the roads that lead toward Brunswick and the interior county. The old Post Road forms the Brantley–Glynn county line nearby, so the community’s map has long been shaped by movement between two counties. Waynesville was first listed as a CDP in the 2020 census, with 331 residents. Its present-day outline is a rural crossroads with homes, a school, and a highway route through pine country.

Waynesville Primary School sits on Old Waynesville Road and is part of the Brantley County school system. The county lists an EMS station on Highway 82 in Waynesville, another sign of how the small community fits into the wider service map. Roads continue to do the old work: U.S. 82 carries east-west traffic, while local routes follow the old Post Road and connect scattered homes and farms. Waynesville is a small coastal-plain settlement close enough to Brunswick for larger errands, but organized day to day through Brantley County’s schools, roads, and emergency services.
