Wells River, VT

Set along the Connecticut River in the town of Newbury, Wells River is a historic village that enjoys a very convenient crossroads location. Because Route 5 and Route 302 meet right in town, residents have a straightforward drive up and down the river valley as well as quick access across the bridge into New Hampshire. The center of town features a walkable stretch of Main Street, where local businesses and older storefronts sit within an easy stroll of quiet neighborhood homes.

Nearly the whole village is designated as a historic district, filled with distinctive nineteenth-century buildings from its past as a busy mill and railroad junction. That history gives the area a lot of visual character, from classic brick commercial blocks to traditional New England homes with river views. It offers newcomers a comfortable, small-town atmosphere where daily life is relaxed, scenic, and well connected to neighboring communities on both sides of the state line.
