West Richland is a Benton County city in the Tri-Cities metro area, tied closely to Richland, Kennewick, and Pasco. It sits near the Yakima River, in a dry southeastern Washington landscape that is just shy of desert by climate classification. The area's story includes Indigenous settlement near the Yakima, Lewis and Clark's 1805 passage, and the Yellowstone Trail through the Yakima Valley.
