About Westchester
Westchester is a Cook County village west of Chicago, first shaped by German farmers in the mid-19th century and later by suburban development. One of its most distinctive natural features is a major black-soil prairie remnant, an unusual ecological survivor in a heavily built metropolitan area. The village is also home to the Westchester Park District, which provides local recreation. Westchester feels like a mature inner suburb: residential streets, parks, schools, and quick access to the western Chicago road network.
