White, GA

White is a Bartow County city in northwest Georgia, along U.S. Highway 411 about three miles north of I-75 and nine miles north of Cartersville. The 2020 census counted 661 residents. Bartow County schools serve the community, and the highway corridor links White to the county's ridges, valleys, and industrial and retail centers. Allatoona Lake, Pine Log Mountain, and the Etowah River sit in the wider landscape, while the city itself remains a small crossroads north of Cartersville.

White began as Wofford's Crossroads. James Alexander White settled nearby, opened a store, and became the first postmaster in 1890; his name replaced the older crossroads name. The first school followed in the 1890s, and the Georgia legislature incorporated White as a town in 1919. The charter was revised in 1962, when it became a city. White's story is easy to see on the ground: a post office and store at an old road junction, now connected to I-75 and the growing Cartersville area.
