Whitehall, MI

Whitehall is a small coastal community of around 3,000 people in West Michigan, set right along the shores of White Lake and just a short drive from Lake Michigan's beaches. It sits directly across the water from its sister town of Montague, and the two share a walkable causeway along with local events and festivals. The town has an easygoing lakeside feel, centered around the White Lake Marina, the historic Playhouse at White Lake, and trailheads for the Hart-Montague Bicycle Trail.

Daily life is straightforward and family-friendly, with local students attending Whitehall District Schools and major employers like Howmet Aerospace right in town. While local shops and restaurants line Colby Street downtown, a quick 15-minute drive south into Muskegon covers big-box shopping, hospitals, and broader career opportunities. Between boating on the lake, holiday parades around Covell Park, and quiet neighborhoods near the water, it gives residents a classic Michigan small-town pace with plenty of outdoor recreation.
