Whitelaw, WI

Whitelaw is a Manitowoc County village along U.S. 10, about 10 miles west of Manitowoc and four miles west of I-43. The 2020 census counted 737 residents. It began as Pine Grove Siding and Pine Grove, received a Whitelaw post office in 1892, and adopted the present name in 1907 after mail confusion with another Pine Grove. The village incorporated in 1958, with its water and sewer system following in 1963, so the current highway settlement still carries the outline of a railroad and post-office community.

Whitelaw's public life gathers around Community Park, where three baseball diamonds, playground equipment, a shelter, and a trap-shooting range are maintained with help from the Whitelaw Lions Club and Sportsmen's Club. The village also has a volunteer fire department, post office, farm-services cooperative, daycare, and Catholic church, and it lies within the Valders Area School District. Those institutions give U.S. 10 a distinctly local rhythm: municipal services, shared recreation, and everyday businesses all sit within a short village map.
