About Whitsett

Whitsett is a small Guilford County town east of Greensboro, set along the rural roads of the central Piedmont. The town incorporated in 1991, but its older story is visible in the Whitsett Historic District and a group of individually listed properties, including Foust House, Holly Gate, Low House, Wadsworth Congregational Church, and the William Rankin and Elizabeth Wharton Smith House. Farms and livestock remain part of the surrounding landscape, while NC 61 and Whitsett Park Road connect the town to Greensboro, Burlington, and nearby communities.

Town hall occupies a former community club building donated to Whitsett along with a ball field, giving local government a physical link to the place's civic history. The town's present calendar is built around council business, parks, roads, and the everyday movement of residents through the Piedmont. Lenovo's 2012 decision to announce a manufacturing plant in Whitsett added a modern industrial chapter to a town better known for historic homes and agricultural land. Whitsett's character comes from that overlap: a small municipality with a preserved past, working countryside, and a larger regional economy at its doorstep.
